The Types of Storage Unit Sizes in Ontario
The most popular mini-storage unit sizes are available at Public Storage! This standard range of sizes will suit almost any storage requirements, no matter how much you’re planning to store:
- 5’x5′ (25 sq ft): Roughly the size of a large closet, this unit is most ideal for storing a limited number of items, such as 15 moving boxes, small furniture items, twin-sized mattress sets, small appliances, or seasonal clothing, accessories, and decor.
- 5’x10′ (50 sq ft): About the size of a walk-in closet, this unit works well for the contents of a small one-bedroom or studio apartment, including a sofa, queen mattress set, small dining room set, TVs and electronics, bicycles or scooter, sports equipment, and up to 25 boxes.
- 10’x’10’ (100 sq ft): This size is about half the size of a garage. It provides ample space for the contents of a one- or two-bedroom apartment, including major kitchen appliances, king-sized mattress set, garden and lawn care equipment, bulky seasonal items like patio furniture and tires, and 50 boxes.
- 10’x’15’ (150 sq ft): Almost the size of one-car garage, this unit size accommodates the furnishings from a two- or three-bedroom apartment, including up to 80 boxes, several large appliances, exercise equipment or home gym, home entertainment centre, bicycles or a scooter, and small recreational vehicles like ATVs.
- 10’x20′ (200 sq ft): This size gives you approximately the same amount of space as a standard garage, making it suitable to store the contents of a three- or four-bedroom apartment or house, including over 100 moving boxes, all major appliances, a home office, or a passenger vehicle.
- 10’x25′ (250 sq ft): Being slightly larger than a one-car garage, this size provides ample space for the contents of a three or four-bedroom house, upwards of 100 moving boxes, office furniture, commercial tools and equipment, and/or a full-size passenger vehicle.
- 10’x30′ (300 sq ft): The largest storage unit size, similar to a two-car garage in capacity, offers enough space for the contents of a four or five-bedroom house, well over 150 boxes, business inventory, canoes or kayaks, a boat on a trailer, passenger vehicle or light duty truck.
When choosing the ideal unit size, consider the types and quantities of items you want to store, as well as their dimensions. Take advantage of vertical space by using freestanding shelves and stackable bins to maximize storage capacity.
