De-Clutter Your Closets With the Kidney Clothes Program!

Car Storage

It seems to be just one of those unavoidable facts of life: we all have pesky things that hang around our homes, and we just can’t seem to figure out what to do with them! So we store them—in the basement, the attic, the spare “bedroom”, or the garage. But in the end, this means being unable to enjoy these spaces in our home the way we’d really like to!

At Public Storage, we offer the storage alternative that can help you reduce all that clutter, and hang on to the things you care about at the same time.

But what about those things you just don’t want to keep, even though they’re still perfectly good? It doesn’t make sense to simply throw them away, but sometimes it can be tough to decide between storage and charitable donation…

Well, now you can choose both!

Public Storage has partnered up with the Kidney Clothes Program, which benefits the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Overall, the Kidney Clothes Program collects clothing and household donations from residential communities across Canada to help fund kidney research, education, peer support and other programs, all designed to alleviate the impact of kidney disease in our society. Ultimately, the items donated will be delivered to Value Village Thrift Stores, where the net proceeds will financially benefit the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

We’ve made it easy to donate, by placing 13 clothing bins on our sites across the GTA and surrounding areas, which are readily accessible any time of day. Here’s a list of the kinds of items you can put in these bins:

  • Any gently used clothing, including footwear, coats and jackets, belts and ties
  • Handbags and luggage
  • Yarn, fabric and patterns
  • Household linens and bedding, including draperies, pillows and blankets, and tablecloths
  • Sleeping bags
  • Other cloth based items, such as hats, plush toys, towels, scarves, gloves, etc.

And, as a bonus, by recycling your pre-loved items through this program and keeping them out of landfills, you’re supporting the environment, too!
